Be Active: Be active for 30 to 60 minutes a day for better health


Follow Canada's Physical Activity Guide to Healthy Active Living. Choose activities you like. Include your family or friends.

Include activities that increase:
  1. Endurance such as walking, running or biking
  2. Flexibility such as yoga, stretching or Pilates
  3. Strength such as climbing stairs, raking or lifting weights
Reduce periods of inactivity. Take breaks from watching TV or working on the computer. Stretch or go for a walk.

Eat Well: Healthy eating will help you feel good and perform at your best!

Follow the food guide when planning and preparing meals:
  1. Eat at least one dark green and one orange vegetable each day.
  2. Make at least half of your grain products whole grain each day.
  3. Drink skim, 1% or 2% milk each day.
  4. Choose meat and alternatives such as beans and lentils often.
Be Smoke-free: Choose smoke-free living. It will protect you and your family.

If you can’t quit smoking:
  1. Try to cut down the number of cigarettes you smoke each day.
  2. Make your home and car smoke-free.
  3. Ensure that the places where your children spend time are smoke-free.
